The Ashbourne Duathlon is set in the scenic countryside of the Derby shire Peak District. Carsington Water is situated off the B5035 between Ashbourne and Wirksworth.
Carsington Water is an excellent venue with plenty of car parking, numerous shops and an on site restaurant (which provides a superb viewing area for spectators) offering hot meals, snacks and refreshments. For the children - a great outdoor play area.
The first run is an undulating circular route around the resevoir, most of the course is traffic free on country tracks and footpaths.
This will take you on a loop through the beautiful Derbyshire Peak District on an undulating course with a challenging climb towards Middleton Top. The route will be marshalled and signposted throughout but extra care should be taken on some of the steeper descents.
After taking in the sights on your bike, you will head out onto the fast, flat out and back final run over the dam wall for the final run.
This will be held under the rules of the British Triathlon Association. As always, your bicycle must be in a road worthy condition and an approved cycle helmet must be worn, A BTA referee will be present throughout the day. Full BTA rules can be found on www.britishtriathlon.org
We will once again be offering cash prizes to the top 3 finishers and there will also be prizes in each ten year age category as well as first team, under 21's and first relay team. All competitors will receive a tee shirt on completion of the event.
